Susan Salahshor, a physician’s assistant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and president of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, is a facilitator for the Mental Health First Aid initiative, a coalition of five Jacksonville hospitals who launched a campaign last January to provide free adult mental health first aid training. During 2017 the initiative trained 3,398 people.
Federico Lega is Director of the International Master of Healthcare Management, Economics, and Policy (MIHMEP) — a one-year program taught in English at the Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy. Lega has also taught healthcare management in programs in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the U.K., the U.S., the UAE and Iran. Joseph Restuccia is Professor of Healthcare and Operations Management at the Questrom School of Business department of Operations and Technology Management at Boston University. He has been a visiting professor at MIHMEP every year since 2003. Lega and Restuccia spoke with GHCi’s Stefanie Rubin about how the Bocconi education program prepares a diverse set of students for healthcare management challenges around the world.
St. Johns River State College is accepting applications for those interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The Nursing Assistant program runs through January 11 to March 17 with evening classes held on the Palatka campus, with clinicals held on Saturdays.
